THE TALMUD PAUMANUKI (note from the author)

It came all in small just-about-to-sleep transmissions, as a series of jokes, and from the feedback I have been gathering it is actually funny. When one writes something funny it is only actually funny if others think it is funny. And it seems to be. It requires a bit of insider language, quasi-yeshivish style, maybe you have some and maybe not. To "english audiences" it kinda seems like a weird booklet about nothing. Isn't that strange? or is that just how it works when language is a factor. And maybe language is always a factor. There is an interview about the pamphlet here

The pamphlet was designed to be both formatted as a Talmud, but also as the kind of daily teachings that are places in the windshields of cars in Jewish Williamsburg. Calling it a pamphlet is more appropriate than a zine. Zine is a word i learned to use to describe handmade things, but it has these connotations of a culture that i am not in. pamphlet is pathetic as a word, and there is something pathetic in jewish aesthetics that i think we both (all three maybe) deal with.
